When Things are Tough, Play Football

Photographer, Jessica Hilltout, went to Africa and photographed the poverty-striken children there and their love for football. She turned it into a book, Amen: Grassroots Football. The pictures show their jerseys, balls, and shoes. She states in the beginning of the book that football is their happiness. They are content with just that despite the lack of money.

While looking through the book, I couldn't help but wonder how could people this poor be happy with just the game of football while here in America we have an abundance of everything, EXCEPT happiness. Think about it.

"Football breathes happiness into sun-baked days and rain-soaked evenings. On a continent where not even the basics are taken for granted, Football is precious. And like everything that is truly precious, it is a necessity, like bread and water."

BEST NOVEL I'VE CAME ACROSS IN AWHILE

A little nigerian girl by the name of "Little Bee" is just released from an immigration detention center in the UK after two years- this is how Cleave begins this scintillating story of survival. It's reallly hard to give a succint plot of the book without giving it away. Every page is filled with awesomeness, from the situations to Chris Cleave's metaphors and extraordinary tone amongst the narrators. Yes, there are two narrators-both telling a story. But I won't elaborate because if i do, once you read it you won't be as amazed as I was. I'm not finished yet, but I can definitely say that this is the best book I've read this year. I previously read Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri, which was officially the best book of 2010 according to New York Times, but this is the bestHands down. Great read. Highly Recommended! Superb literature.

Repeal DADT

There are many people who feel like Lady Gaga is just this sex symbol and pyschopath, but she's much more. I worship her for her intransigence to this unconstituional law. I'm not gay, but forcing soldiers, who are serving our country, to keep quiet about their sexual orientation and barring the ones that are blatantly gay is an outlawed prejudice. I'm 100% against it. How do you all feel about it? President Obama wants to repeal it, but as of today the Judge denied to abolish "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

Sorry ♥

OK, I can explain. Please do not be upset with me because of my super long hiatus for I have a legit excuse. Here it goes:
MY LIFE HAS BEEN REALLY HECTIC! But of course I couldn't abandon haute coco puff  for too long. I love blogging! Anywho, how are you guys? I hope just as good as I am! During my blog-cation ( vacation from blogging for the slow ones), I have learned, read, and discovered a lot. Everything has made me become a better individual in every aspect-a better friend, a better listener, someone that's more driven and focused.
There were two books over that period of time that gave me a better understanding of myself, the reason I have goals, and an understanding of the world itself. I even began to find my inner peace aka a prominent relationship with God. They somewhat changed me, postively.
Those books were: The Art of Happiness by Howard C. Cutler & The Dalai Lama.
The second was Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.
If you're in need of any guidance or inspiration, I suggest them both.
Moreover, My love for fashion is more intense than before. Bittersweet, i.e bad for my pockets.
Let's see what else...I'm still trying to change the world.
Oh! & I made a drastic change in my diet for many reasons I won't dare to bore you guys with but, umm, #govegetarian #govegan!
Well, that's about it. Yeah I'm pretty boring. SO WHAT!

Go Willow!

Willow Smith, the daughter of Hollywood's finest couple Will & Jada Smith, did her thang in her video. Her unique style, her strong voice...I feel in love with this girl's unique style. She will for sure have me and my girlfriends whipping our hair back and forth at a party.
